The core wallet isn't recommended as a casual use wallet on a person's cell phone. It doesn't even support seed phrases, and it's very weighty, requiring a lot of communication and storage, and a long time for it to sync with the blockchain. Its origin is from the Bitcoin core wallet, from way back. http://github.com/DigiByte-Core/digibyte/releases FYI, If a person wants to have a seed phrase *and* use core wallet, then he needs to pick a seed phrase or create one randomly (recommended), and then compute a secret key from it, and then put the key into the core wallet. By far, it's best to use 24-word seed phrases (not 12-word), to have best compatibility with other wallets, and for better security. The Ian Coleman tool is useful for generating a key. How do I get the core wallet?

The official wallet is actually the DigiByte core wallet. DigiByte is totally decentralized, and you're right that the mobile wallet has been taken in to the repository, putting it into having a special status. It's a bad situation, because there are so many occurrences of people having problems with it. The workaround for people who are having problems with it is for them to send their DGB to another wallet which isn't having problems. You might ask, well why doesn't the project just fix the problems (give it some attention from developers)? Back to this: DigiByte is totally decentralized. Total decentralization isn't just about there being miners far & wide. Another aspect of it is that the development of it isn't centralized. It doesn't have any top person, although it does happen to have one who is, de facto, socially more influential. It's actually somewhat a misnomer to use the term "project" for DigiByte. DigiByte mobile isn't central to DigiByte core development. It's really an app which, historically, found its way into the repository. And, as it happens to have happened, the mobile wallet hasn't gotten attention from people competent to work on it. No one gets paid from any effort which they expend. It could be very facilitative for 'unlocking' DigiByte's capabilities. That's all I know. In addition, I don't even know if it would be open source. I hope so, because, as a principle, having centralized trust in wallets' creators' intent and also that their code doesn't have flaws is a weak link in the security of closed source wallets. For those, we have only their creators' reputations.

DigiByte Mobile is not an official DigiByte wallet, only DigiByte Core is. Also, I don't think there's any servers used in the app that are actually hosting any DigiAssets metadata, so I don't think DigiAssets is actually a functional feature in the wallet at the moment, and I doubt it ever will be with that current version of the protocol.

If the digibyte wallet has dandelion, digiid, digiasset and is the official one, why use another wallet that doesn't support all the features? Just because the seed phrase is not compatible with other wallets? It is the official wallet, it is not supposed to cease to exist and if it happens the digibyte team will offer a solution so that users do not lose their digibyte.

Actually it is statistically unlikely there is another seed phrase that will work. Almost infinit odds against. You have a 1 in 2^256 odds that the first address will match but then the second address matching has the same odds again of matching. To put this in to perspective a perfect computer using all the energy in the visible universe can only count to about 2^254.
